Reminder: Haynie-Sirrine Neighborhood Meeting - Wednesday, August 19th
Information About the County and City Penny Tax Referendums To Be Featured

This is a reminder about the upcoming Haynie-Sirrine Neighborhood Association meeting this Wednesday, August 19th at the NEXT Innovation Center from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. The meeting will focus on the County and City "penny tax" referendums that will be on the ballot this November.
Since our August 8th newsletter, Greenville City Council on August 10th approved (by a 7 to 0 vote) an enacting ordinance to move the City "penny tax" to a city-wide referendum on November 3rd. Greenville County Council had previously approved on July 21st (by an 8 to 3 vote) an ordinance to place the County's "transportation penny tax" referendum on the ballot for a county-wide vote on November 3rd. Eligible voters within the Greenville city limits will vote on both the County and City "penny tax" referendums.
At the August 19th neighborhood meeting, Greenville County Council District 23 representative Alan Mitchell will provide an informational overview of the Greenville County "transportation penny tax", and Greenville City Council At-Large representative Dorothy Dowe will present information about the Greenville City "penny tax". This is an opportunity for our neighborhood to learn more about these important tax initiatives and ask our elected representatives questions.
The neighborhood meeting will also include an update from the City of Greenville's Cameron Campbell on the Urban Forest Comprehensive Plan, the City's first-ever urban forest plan. The plan is aimed at building a 20-year plan for the care and stewardship of Greenville's urban forest and tree canopy.
The County and City "penny tax" initiatives provide an opportunity to address the Greenville area's long-standing infrastructure needs. We encourage you to attend the August 19th neighborhood meeting to learn more and discuss these initiatives with our elected officials. We hope to see you on August 19th.
